XRP Ledger Validator Challenges Algorand's Quantum Claims Amid Comprehensive Audit
The debate over which blockchain is truly ready for quantum computing has reignited after a prominent XRP Ledger validator, Vet, publicly challenged Algorand's claims of full quantum-readiness.
Vet argues that securing individual accounts is only one part of a larger puzzle and points to the consensus layer, where elliptic-curve cryptography and Ed25519 signatures are still used, which can be vulnerable to attack by sufficiently advanced quantum computers.
Ripple, on the other hand, has partnered with Project Eleven for an exhaustive audit of the XRP Ledger ecosystem, covering validators, custodial infrastructure, wallets, and network architecture. The goal is full post-quantum readiness by 2028.
The XRP Ledger's audit includes testing hybrid signature methods, validator performance under new cryptographic loads, Devnet workloads, and a prototype for quantum-secure custody. This comprehensive approach aims to address the challenges of migrating wallets, validator signatures, consensus mechanisms, and underlying cryptographic primitives.
