$XRP Ledger's Contrarian Design Drives Its Competitive Advantage
XRPL Commons President David Bchiri attributes the $XRP Ledger's competitive advantage to its contrarian design, which prioritizes real-world utility over following blockchain trends.
Bchiri was drawn to XRPL's consensus mechanism, which eschews energy-intensive mining and traditional proof-of-stake systems in favor of a high-performance settlement layer optimized for speed, efficiency, and reliability.
The $XRP Ledger's native features, such as the decentralized exchange (DEX), Automated Market Maker (AMM), tokenization, batch transactions, and upcoming privacy enhancements, are built directly into the protocol rather than relying on external smart contracts. This approach makes the network more secure and dependable, according to Bchiri.
The XRPL's Lending Protocol, set to be integrated natively, will enable users, institutions, and developers to lend and borrow $XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD) without relying on custom smart contracts. This move is expected to unlock new sources of on-chain liquidity while allowing idle assets to generate yield in a more secure environment.
Bchiri believes that XRPL's combination of native financial infrastructure, enterprise-grade security, and efficient settlement will continue to give it an edge as tokenized assets and institutional blockchain adoption expand.
