XRP Makes Inroads in US Market via Canadian Regulatory Loophole
The Canadian financial market has once again taken the lead in regulating cryptocurrencies, this time allowing US investors to access XRP-based instruments. The CDCC confirmed the registration of options on the Evolve XRP ETF and Purpose XRP ETF for sale in the US under Form S-20.
These two ETFs have been trading successfully on the Montreal Exchange since January 2026, alongside derivatives on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The regulatory shift coincided with the first public filings from Canada's largest banks, which have begun adding XRP exposure to their disclosures.
The Bank of Montreal (BMO) disclosed investments in XRP products as part of its large portfolios, while National Bank of Canada reported a stake worth approximately $330,000 in the regulated Bitwise XRP ETF. These banking giants are cautious but confident in the infrastructure that has been created.
