XRP Open Interest Surges as On-Chain Activity Explodes
XRP's derivatives market is seeing increased participation as its open interest on Binance reaches a two-month high, according to CryptoQuant data. This surge in activity could indicate stronger participation and speculation, making the next major price move more significant.
However, rising open interest alone is not a bullish signal, and it's essential to consider the relationship between open interest and price movements. If open interest rises alongside price, it can suggest fresh positions backing an advance. On the other hand, if price falls while open interest climbs, it could indicate heavier bearish positioning or increased leverage.
XRP's on-chain activity is also picking up, with transactions worth more than $1 million jumping 280% over the past 24 hours. This surge in large-value transfers is accompanied by a record number of active addresses, reaching 49,929, their highest level in over two months. The XRP Ledger has seen significant growth, with roughly 885,000 to 1.15 million transactions and about 340,000 to 440,000 successful payments recorded daily.
Stablecoin growth is adding further liquidity to the ecosystem, with RLUSD's circulating supply reaching approximately $1.76 billion, a 15% increase over the past 30 days. Real-world-asset activity is expanding as well, with about $485 million in distributed RWA value tracked on XRPL. XRP is also gaining utility as a native bridge asset across the XRPL ecosystem, including AI-agent payments.
The increasing activity beneath the surface is a significant development for XRP. However, whether this translates into sustained demand for the cryptocurrency remains to be seen. The $1 mark remains a critical level, and elevated leverage could make the next decisive move more volatile in either direction.
