XRP Ownership Restrictions Debate Erupts Between Alex Jones and XRPL Validator

American commentator Alex Jones recently expressed concerns about potential US government restrictions on XRP ownership. He discussed a hypothetical scenario where lawmakers might classify XRP as a banking asset and limit or ban private ownership.

Jones referenced historical precedent, pointing to the US government's 1933 prohibition on private gold ownership. He advised listeners to take precautions by putting their XRP in an LLC and then inside a trust.

Vet, an active validator on the XRP Ledger, responded to Jones' discussion by posting the broadcast clip on X and offering a different viewpoint. Vet asserted that XRP in self-custody wallets cannot be seized by the US government or any other party as long as the individual controls their private keys.

Vet also challenged the notion that XRP could only be held or controlled by banks, emphasizing the decentralized and permissionless structure of the network. He noted that current US law does not prevent individuals from owning XRP, and that the US government cannot censor transactions on the XRPL.
