XRP Payment Volume Surges 26%, But Investor Caution Warranted
The XRP Ledger payment activity has experienced a significant increase over the past 24 hours. According to network data, the volume of XRP payments rose by 26% to approximately 462.9 million XRP, which translates to more than $620 million in nominal value at the current price of around $1.34.
However, this surge in payment activity does not necessarily indicate a clear bullish signal for investors. The number of accounts created increased by 8.8% to 2,300, while active accounts rose by only 1.3% to 14,500.
Transaction fees also saw an 8.5% increase to 277.4 XRP, resulting in a burn of XRP. The ledger throughput itself remained steady, with an average interval of 3.87 seconds and 20,500 closed ledgers. Nevertheless, the number of active users fell by 22.4% to 151,500.
This discrepancy suggests that the increased payment volume may be due to larger transactions or concentrated activity rather than a proportional increase in overall adoption. The price action also warrants caution, as XRP is currently testing a significant technical cluster after failing to maintain moves above $1.40, $1.45 on multiple occasions.
