XRP Perpetual Contract Collapses to -$882M as Traders Reduce Leverage

XRP's perpetual contract, also known as CVD (Cumulative Funding Rate), has plummeted to -$882.1 million on Binance, a significant drop from its previous negative level of -$480 million. This collapse is part of the broader price correction in the crypto market, with XRP's price falling by nearly 19% from $1.69 to $1.37 over two weeks.

The decline in open interest on Binance, from $323 million to $235.3 million, indicates that traders have been reducing their leveraged positions during this period. This is evident in the fact that about 97% of the buildup in August has now been unwound, leaving XRP with much lower leveraged positioning than it had at its peak.

However, it's essential to note that a negative CVD does not automatically guarantee a continued decline in price or a subsequent recovery. A falling XRP price and lower leverage could eventually lead to a healthier market structure by reducing the risks associated with crowded positions.
