XRP Poised to Dominate Institutional Finance Amid Lending Plans and Korean Trading Frenzy
Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg is confident that XRP will become the leading protocol for institutional financial infrastructure, citing recent lending plans on the XRP Ledger and significant trading activity in South Korea. He believes that the integration of institutional-grade credit through partnerships like Cicada Credit and Clearpool will have a major impact on XRP's growth.
McClurg argues that XRP's relatively centralized structure is actually an advantage for institutional use cases, as these investors tend to prefer more centralized platforms over decentralized alternatives. He also points out that the XRP Ledger can generate yield, which would attract additional capital as financial infrastructure gets rebuilt around blockchain rails.
The CEO highlights a 273% surge in XRP trading volume on South Korean exchange Upbit since March, attributing it to population size and the strength of the Korean won as a crypto trading pair. According to McClurg, South Korea and the United States represent the two largest markets for XRP by currency pair volume.
