XRP Price Drops Amid Escrow Release and Stablecoin Supply Decrease
The XRP price has seen a significant drop in value over the past week, with it currently trading near $1.06 per CoinMarketCap data.
This week's decline is attributed to three major updates from Ripple: the release of 1 billion XRP from escrow, worth approximately $1.08 billion; a 13% decrease in stablecoin supply on the Ledger, pulling total supply down to around $853 million; and Ripple's partnership with ZILO and Licuido for regulated transfer agency and issuance tools.
The recent release of 1 billion XRP from escrow is considered routine as part of the program that manages supply since 2017. However, it still adds fresh supply for traders to watch. The majority of unlocked coins are typically re-locked into escrow each month.
Ripple's push into capital markets may have a more significant impact in the long term than this week's price drop. Market analysts suggest that adoption data, such as active addresses and stablecoin flow, provides a clearer signal rather than relying on short-term charts.
