XRP Price Skyrockets 20% Amid Proposed Lending Protocol Upgrade
Ripple's XRP price surged nearly 20% in the last 24 hours, reaching $1.38. This significant increase coincided with several events that boosted investor confidence in the crypto market.
The proposed Lending Protocol upgrade on XRPL has gained traction among institutional finance players, particularly with Clearpool's construction of a lending platform as a Single Asset Vault. Since 2021, Clearpool has facilitated over $930 million worth of institutional loans, enabling independent credit managers to establish their own risk conditions for each market.
Cicada Partners will manage the credit operations, evaluating borrowers and originating loans with over $860 million in credit underwriting experience. Ripple will be a limited partner but not serve as a special backup, focusing on fintech companies, payment service providers, and crypto businesses using stablecoins to fund working capital.
The Lending Protocol upgrade is still pending approval from validators, requiring at least 80% of the trusted validators to approve it for two consecutive weeks. The testing of lending integration in XRPL Devnet has already begun, with a technical demonstration planned that will include pool creation, borrowing, and repayment.
