XRP Price Surge Fades Amid Market Momentum Decline
XRP's recent price surge appears to be losing steam as the cryptocurrency market shows signs of fatigue. Despite reaching $1.66 on August 22, XRP has fallen by nearly 6% over the past week. The token still holds gains of more than 35% in 14-day trading and 26.3% over the previous month.
The rally was fueled by a broader market upswing led by Bitcoin's recovery to the $80,000 level. President Donald Trump's announcement of plans for the US government to purchase significant quantities of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies also contributed to the positive price momentum.
However, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish speech at the Jackson Hole event has raised concerns about further interest rate hikes. This could prompt a shift of capital from riskier assets like XRP into more traditional investment vehicles, potentially pressuring crypto prices further.
