XRP Price Volatility Masks Steady Growth
XRP's price volatility has been puzzling many investors. Despite being one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, its price can swing dramatically in a single day.
According to CoinMarketCap's live data, XRP was trading at $1.40 on September 2, down 0.83% over the past 24 hours. The token's price had been fluctuating between $1.40 and $1.42 multiple times in a single session.
The choppiness is not unusual for large-cap assets trading through short-term momentum shifts. Several mechanical reasons contribute to this phenomenon, including tens of billions of dollars in daily volume moving through the token, modest dollar-value swings translating into larger-looking percentage moves, and traders using leverage amplifying small price movements.
A report published by Evernorth on September 2 paints a different picture of XRP's performance. The report shows that total value recorded on the ledger grew from $99 million to $4.26 billion across six straight quarters, with no decline in any quarter. Ripple's stablecoin balances averaged $539 million in the most recent quarter, up from $73 million a year earlier.
The data suggests that XRP is still finding its footing on price discovery and that the token's underlying support remains strong. This combination often indicates that longer-term investors find their entry points when short-term charts stay choppy while fundamentals move in a straight line.
