XRP Price Would Need to Reach Extreme Levels to Match Major Economies' Debt
A thought-provoking exercise is circulating in crypto circles, where analyst Steph Is Crypto compared the price of XRP to the government debt of several major economies. The calculation involves dividing public debt figures by the roughly 62.74 billion XRP tokens in circulation.
For Russia's $394.5 billion debt, XRP would need to trade at $6.29 per token, while the Eurozone's $16.20 trillion debt load would push the figure to about $258 per XRP. The United States' $40.03 trillion federal debt, however, would require a price of $638 per XRP.
The exercise is meant to illustrate the scale of national debt burdens relative to XRP's current market value. However, some observers argue that equating a token's market capitalization with government debt implies a repayment mechanism that does not exist.
