XRP Regains Momentum as Senate Deadline Looms

The fate of XRP's regulatory classification is hanging in the balance as a single sentence in the US Senate holds the key to its institutional adoption. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would codify XRP's status as a commodity into permanent federal law, has been revised with a compromise that allows a contentious ethics clause to expire in 2029 and gives regulators a year to implement the new framework.

However, the path to 60 Senate votes remains narrow, requiring at least seven Democratic defections from Republican support alone. With only twelve working days remaining before the Senate's summer recess begins on August 7th, Majority Leader John Thune's decision on floor time will be crucial in determining whether the bill passes.

XRP's price has remained remarkably calm at $1.11 despite the high-stakes political maneuvering, barely flinching despite the uncertainty surrounding its regulatory status. The token's year-to-date performance is down 40.8 percent since January, and nearly 69 percent below the 52-week high of $3.55 reached in July 2025.
