XRP Sees Surge in Institutional Interest Ahead of Clarity Act Vote
The cryptocurrency market saw significant gains in August, with XRP experiencing a 40% increase in value between August 17 and 31. The altcoin rose from $0.99 to $1.38.
However, the total open interest in XRP futures decreased by 16% during this period, falling from 2.77 billion XRP to approximately 2.34 billion XRP. This trend was not reflected on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), where open positions actually increased.
Omkar Godbole, a market analyst, notes that the CME is a regulated market used primarily by professional investors and asset managers, making this increase a signal of strengthening institutional interest in XRP.
The shift in futures trading occurs ahead of the US Clarity Act vote, which regulates the structure of the cryptocurrency market. The market is closely watching the Senate's procedural vote on the Clarity Act.
