XRP Soars on Regulatory Clarity and Institutional Access
The XRP Ledger network has seen significant growth in recent months, with over $500 billion in transacted value recorded over the past 12 months. This surge in activity comes as US spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) nearly doubled their holdings in 2026, approaching $200 million in assets under management.
21Shares has identified four key catalysts driving expectations for an imminent major move in XRP. These factors include regulatory clarity, institutional access, measurable utility, and a fixed supply of tokens. The resolution of the legal dispute between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seen as a significant factor, having eliminated compliance hurdles that kept traditional financial institutions sidelined from the asset.
Furthermore, the consolidation of exchange-traded vehicles has played a crucial role in driving growth. In November 2025, seven spot funds launched on US exchanges, gathering $1.3 billion during their first month of trading. The report notes that Goldman Sachs disclosed a $153.8 million holding at the close of Q4 2025 and fully liquidated the position in its Q1 2026 report.
The XRP Ledger network has also seen significant expansion, with the RLUSD stablecoin increasing its circulating supply from $72 million to $1.6 billion in less than two years. Tokenized real-world assets deployed on the infrastructure reached nearly $4 billion, primarily comprising US sovereign debt instruments. The rollout of the Multi-Purpose Token standard allows financial institutions to issue bonds with compliance parameters embedded directly into the on-chain code.
The deflationary model and supply predictability are also seen as key drivers for XRP's growth. With a fixed total supply of 100 billion units, and over 14 million tokens permanently burned through network fees to date, the asset's scarcity is expected to contribute to its appreciation.
