XRP Struggles to Find Footing Amid Shift in Investor Sentiment
XRP has been on a wild ride over the past three years, rising 168% but recently falling 55% in the last 12 months. While investors are eagerly awaiting the next move for XRP, the reality is that its value may not budge much from where it's sitting now.
One of the main drivers behind XRP's price fluctuations has been Ripple Labs' payment network, RippleNet. However, a closer look reveals that RippleNet doesn't actually use the XRP token in its cross-border money transfer process. This means that even with increased adoption among financial institutions, there's no guarantee that it'll boost XRP's value.
Additionally, previous catalysts such as the launch of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have played out, but instead of driving up prices, they've contributed to XRP's decline. Today, seven XRP ETFs are available, making it easy for investors to gain exposure to XRP, yet its price has fallen over 60% since their debut.
With no significant catalysts on the horizon and a shift in investor sentiment towards artificial intelligence (AI) companies that offer real products and services tied to sales and profits, XRP may struggle to gain traction. AI stocks have delivered huge returns, making it easy for investors to see why they're a better bet than most cryptocurrencies right now.
