XRP Stuck in a Seasonal Rut
Ripple's recent supply management move has failed to boost XRP prices, which remain stuck near their 52-week low. On August 1, Ripple executed its monthly escrow unlock with an unusual twist, routing 700 million tokens back into escrow and leaving a net circulation increase of just 300 million XRP.
This deliberate tightening of the supply valve is colliding with one of the most reliable seasonal patterns in crypto. Historically, August has delivered XRP holders an average gain of just 0.43 percent, while the median return is a minus 6.15 percent.
The regulatory environment is also weighing on XRP. The CLARITY Act, which would permanently classify XRP as a commodity and deliver clarity for institutional investors, remains parked in the Senate after Senator Elizabeth Warren escalated her opposition to it.
