XRP Stuck in the Shadows as Bitcoin Dominates Crypto Market
XRP has surged in value over the past week, but its performance relative to Bitcoin remains underwhelming.
The token jumped from $0.978 last week to as high as $1.70 before retracing to around $1.43, representing a gain of more than 72% and a 43% increase over the past seven days.
However, when compared with Bitcoin's price over the same period, XRP's performance is starkly different. BTC has climbed from roughly $62,000 to as high as $81,000, representing a 22% gain over the week and a staggering 361% increase since January 6, 2018.
This contrast has sparked debate in the crypto community, with some arguing that XRP's underperformance against Bitcoin is due to its connection to Ripple's business model. Adam Livingston noted that XRP remains well below its price from more than eight years ago, despite the growth of the crypto market.
