XRP Surges 37% as Institutional Investors Buy In
XRP had its strongest August since 2017, surging by 37% and reaching as high as $1.69 per token before retreating to around $1.50.
This month's performance is all the more impressive given that the average return for XRP in August is just 0.43%.
The rally was driven in part by institutional investors buying into the token despite it falling in price, with spot XRP ETFs recording their strongest weekly inflows since launching in November 2025.
This suggests that these investors are positioning themselves for a longer-term move rather than chasing momentum.
The most obvious explanation for this is regulatory clarity, which could come through the CLARITY Act or CFTC rulemaking and would make XRP eligible for a wider range of institutional products.
However, there may be another thesis at play - that these investors see something in the on-chain data that suggests a longer-term revaluation of the token is underway.
