XRP Surges on National Debt Discussion
The price of XRP has surged to near $1.70 as it gains traction in discussions about the US national debt and government-held digital assets.
A recent Newsmax interview with Vice President JD Vance sparked interest in XRP after host Carl Higbie mentioned its potential use in offsetting the national debt, which exceeded $40 trillion in August according to Treasury Department data.
Vance did not directly address XRP or announce any new cryptocurrency policy during the interview, instead emphasizing economic growth and a proposed sovereign wealth fund. However, his comments placed XRP within a national discussion about government-held digital assets.
The US government has already established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile, but Trump's previous mention of including XRP in the cryptocurrency reserve did not result in any official commitment to buy it or use it against the debt.
