XRP Surges Past Bitcoin in South Korea Amid Stock Market Collapse

South Korea's retail investors have once again demonstrated their strong affinity for XRP, trading nearly four times as much of it as Bitcoin across the country's leading cryptocurrency exchanges.

This surge comes at a time when South Korea's traditional financial markets are experiencing one of their steepest selloffs in decades, with stocks tumbling 44% in just 40 days and wiping out nearly $2 trillion in market value.

The trend has been building for weeks, with XRP recently generating more than twice Bitcoin's trading volume on Upbit, South Korea's largest crypto exchange, where it recorded a turnover of roughly $86 million.

This is not a short-term reaction to equity market weakness, but rather the result of years of strong local adoption and intense market participation. The growth of Ripple's ecosystem, including its expanding cross-border payments strategy and tokenization initiatives, has kept XRP firmly in the spotlight.
