XRP Surges Past Bitcoin on South Korean Exchanges
XRP's price has seen a significant surge in South Korea, briefly outperforming Bitcoin on two of the country's largest exchanges. The trading volume on Upbit jumped by 273% in one day, reaching approximately $1.84 billion, with XRP volume nearing $418.9 million as the price rose 25.2% to around $1.37, while Bitcoin sat at $77,700.
Dr. Kamilah Stevenson, a wealth-focused YouTube host, suggested that some of this buying power rotated out of Korean semiconductor stocks and into XRP, although she did not confirm the flow directly.
The 'kimchi premium' story is ongoing in South Korea, where local demand periodically detaches Korean prices from the global market. The recent surge has left XRP's weekly trend still negative after the spike faded, with volume remaining elevated at $1.8-2.5 billion.
Support has formed near $1.32-1.34, while resistance clusters at $1.37-1.40, a level that XRP has failed to clear decisively in recent sessions.
