XRP vs Algorand: Quantum Security Showdown
Ripple's XRP Ledger is working on a broader system-wide assessment to ensure its quantum security, while Algorand has already deployed post-quantum accounts but still relies partly on cryptography that could be vulnerable to powerful quantum computers.
XRPL validator Vet pushed back on claims that Algorand is fully quantum-ready, noting that quantum-secure accounts are only one layer of the problem. Algorand's current Verifiable Random Function and consensus messaging rely on elliptic-curve cryptography, which is not quantum-resistant.
Ripple is working with Project Eleven to test hybrid post-quantum signing, validator performance, Devnet workloads, and a quantum-secure custody prototype. The plan goes beyond wallet signatures and targets full post-quantum readiness by 2028.
XRPL has one structural advantage: native key rotation, allowing users to change signing keys without moving to a new account. This could make a future migration easier than on networks where assets must be manually transferred.
