XRP vs BTC: Market Cap Gap Widens Despite Bullish Fundamentals
The prospects of XRP overtaking Bitcoin in market valuation have sparked debate. Some analysts believe that factors such as payment adoption, regulation, new integrations, and altcoin rotation could narrow the gap between the two cryptocurrencies. However, technical analysis suggests a different story.
A November 2024 report by WisdomTree placed Bitcoin's value at $1.9 trillion, while XRP was valued at $83 billion, indicating that XRP would need more than a twentyfold increase to match Bitcoin's valuation. On the charts, XRP/BTC continues to print lower highs and trades below its three-month 20-period EMA, signaling technical underperformance.
While some argue that payment growth, clearer regulation, new integrations, and capital rotation could improve adoption and token performance in the crypto market, others counter that XRP's long-term market structure remains bearish. The split between bullish fundamentals and bearish technicals leaves room for interpretation on whether XRP can eventually overtake Bitcoin.
