XRPL Mainnet Activates Security Upgrade fixCleanup3_2_0
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has undergone a significant security upgrade with the activation of fixCleanup3_2_0 on its mainnet. This upgrade strengthens major features including single-asset vaults, lending protocols, permissioned decentralised exchanges (DEX), multi-purpose tokens and permissioned domains.
According to U.Today, the amendment took effect on July 28 after winning support from 30 of 35 validators. The XRP Ledger Foundation's community director, Hussein Zangana ('Vet' on X), announced the milestone in a recent post, stating that XRPL improved instantly with the upgrade.
The upgrade refines features already deployed, including fixes related to precision and rounding for single-asset vaults and lending protocols. Patches were also applied to permissioned DEX and permissioned domains, as well as adding validation for irregular-format multi-purpose token amounts and a new immutability check to keep ledger state cleaner.
The move follows Ripple's efforts to strengthen XRP Ledger security, including the formation of a dedicated AI-supported red team to continuously look for vulnerabilities. Node operators will need to follow up with node upgrades to maintain service continuity, as nodes using version 3.1.0 or earlier could be blocked from the network until they upgrade.
