Ripple's veteran executive Wietse 'WiLL' Schwartz has confirmed that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network has fully recovered from a recent crisis, which occurred on July 31. The network was hit by a 'manifest storm,' in which thousands of fake validator node credentials were flooded onto the system, causing nodes to waste resources processing garbage.

Schwartz's private hub suffered widespread connection failures due to an 'onReadMessage' error at the agreement stage, but block finalization and consensus itself remained uninterrupted. The incident was resolved through emergency engineering intervention without shutting down the network.

Developers released a hotfix (xrpld 3.2.1) that limited manifest sizes and reworked data caching for unknown nodes to prevent resource waste on suspicious participants. A month later, Schwartz presented results of the patch under real-world conditions.

The latest charts show that the consequences of the attack have been eliminated, with the hub maintaining around 400 simultaneous connections and peaking at 423, including 135 inbound and 271 outbound connections. Latency fell to 165 milliseconds, except for a one-off spike to 1.49 seconds on September 6. Connection drops remained at 84.6 incidents per five-minute interval, while the malicious activity metric 'Abuse' fell to nearly zero.
