XRPL Seeks Quantum Supremacy by 2028
XRP Ledger (XRPL) developers have set a target to achieve full quantum resistance by 2028, beating Ethereum's planned upgrade in 2029. Vet, a contributor at the XRPL Foundation and validator on the decentralized Unique Node List (dUNL), confirmed this timeline, highlighting significant advancements expected by 2027.
One of these innovations is native key rotation, which will allow users to update their cryptographic keys without changing their existing r-addresses. This secure transition aims to minimize confusion and risks for asset custodians, unlike most competing blockchains that require manual transfers.
XRPL also has a 'Quantum-Day' emergency response protocol in place, enabling vulnerable accounts to be instantly isolated and secured without disrupting the network. Developers are actively testing quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms and plan to roll out new security measures gradually using a hybrid deployment model.
