XRP's Enduring Role: A Bridge Asset for a Decentralized Future
The role of XRP in the digital asset ecosystem has been questioned by some who believe that stablecoins like RLUSD can perform similar functions. However, Digital Asset Investor and Vet disagree with this notion.
Vet explained that a stablecoin is essentially a tokenized dollar with a counterparty attached, implying that it relies on a national currency for its value. On the other hand, native digital assets like XRP are designed to facilitate payments and settlement without relying on a specific national currency.
Digital Asset Investor agrees with Vet's perspective, stating that RLUSD and XRP serve different purposes in the ecosystem. While RLUSD maintains a stable value relative to the U.S. dollar, XRP functions as the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger, providing liquidity, settlement, and movement of value between different systems.
Vet also presented two possible perspectives on the future role of digital assets: one where people continue to use the U.S. dollar as the primary bridge and reserve asset, or an environment where native digital assets become bridge assets across their respective networks. Digital Asset Investor strongly endorses Vet's second perspective, believing that XRP remains relevant in this scenario.
