XRP's Fate Tied to Uncertain Senate Vote
The XRP Ledger is facing its monthly token unlock event, but it's no longer a significant market mover. Ripple typically unlocks one billion tokens from escrow each month, which would normally be worth around $1.08 billion at current prices of $1.06. However, only about 300 million XRP actually enter circulation due to the company re-locking most of the released tokens.
The real market driver for XRP is now the fate of the CLARITY Act in the US Senate. If passed, it could lead to a price increase of up to $1.25. However, with only 58 senators supporting the bill and two expressing reservations, its passage is uncertain. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has tempered expectations, suggesting that the chamber may not pass the bill before the summer recess.
The token's chart reflects the uncertainty, showing a stabilization around the $1 mark after recent declines. The weekly decline stands at 2.55%, and the 50-day moving average of $1.11 is barely above the current price. The longer-term picture remains bruised, with XRP having shed over 43% since the start of the year.
