XRP's Quantum Shield: Key Rotation Feature Leaves Bitcoin Exposed

XRP's key rotation feature may have just given it a crucial advantage over Bitcoin when it comes to quantum computing threats. A recent audit of the XRP Ledger found that only 0.03% of its circulating supply is vulnerable, compared to an estimated 35% of Bitcoin.

The review was conducted by Vet, a validator on the XRP Ledger, and discovered that around 300,000 XRP accounts holding 2.4 billion tokens have never sent a transaction. This means their public keys remain hidden from the network, making them quantum-safe by default.

However, two dormant whale accounts were identified as exposed. These accounts hold a combined 21 million XRP and last transacted at least five years ago. The XRPL's built-in key rotation feature allows users to swap their signing keys without moving funds, providing an added layer of defense against quantum threats.
