The US Senate is set to hold its first major floor test of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act on September 15, 2026. This legislation aims to establish clearer federal rules for cryptocurrencies and draw boundaries between the SEC and CFTC in digital-asset markets.

If the bill passes the cloture vote, which requires 60 votes, it will move forward with debating the bill. However, this does not mean that XRP's legal status will be immediately changed or classified.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has described the legislation as an important step toward broader institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies.
