XRP's Sept 15 Catalyst Hinges on Uncertain CLARITY Act Vote
XRP investors are eagerly awaiting the Sept. 15 Senate vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill that aims to establish clearer regulations for the US crypto market. The latest draft of the bill adds new requirements for certain decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and clarifies how credit unions can engage in digital-asset activities.
However, the bill still faces opposition from Democratic lawmakers, who remain skeptical about the unresolved ethics issue. According to a Democratic aide, this problem is 'the biggest stumbling block by far,' as the latest proposal does not address these concerns.
XRP investors are watching the vote closely because it will help determine the broader rules under which US crypto markets operate. Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty has described Sept. 15 as a 'bellwether' for the legislation, suggesting that there is still a viable path forward for Congress to establish a federal market-structure framework.
XRP has been trading around $1.35 on Sept. 11 after falling roughly 4% during the previous session. The cryptocurrency had climbed about 57% from its August lows near $0.90 by Sept. 7, driven in part by derivatives activity ahead of the Sept. 15 narrative.
