XRP's Strongest Tailwind in Years Sets Stage for Senate Vote on CLARITY Act
XRP has closed August with a 35% advance, pushing its price to around $1.41 and continuing a third-quarter rebound that has largely erased the damage from the first half.
The token's strong performance sets up a high-stakes autumn, particularly with a September 15 procedural vote in the U.S. Senate on the CLARITY Act looming large. The legislation aims to redefine how digital assets are regulated in Washington, potentially removing ambiguity over oversight responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The bill's passage would still require clearing the full Senate, being reconciled with the House version, and landing on President Donald Trump's desk. However, even the prospect of progress has contributed to renewed confidence in XRP, which could reinforce its recovery if favorable. Conversely, a setback could stall it.
XRP's performance is also being influenced by historical trends. September has been kind to the token, with gains in each of the past four Septembers, including a 46.2% rise last year and a 0.42% increase in 2025. This seasonal anomaly coincides with a macro backdrop that few would have predicted at midyear.
The third quarter has been particularly promising for XRP, with its quarterly return climbing to 37% through the end of August, well above the historical median quarterly gain of 27.9%. Institutional demand has provided a steady undercurrent to this price recovery, with spot XRP exchange-traded funds attracting $127.34 million in net inflows during August.
