XRP's Traditional Finance Push Expands Amid Institutional Demand and Market Expansion
XRP continues to gain traction in traditional finance as its presence grows across various layers of market infrastructure. The Canadian-listed XRP ETF options are now explicitly covered by a framework allowing their offer and sale in the United States.
This expansion is part of an institutional derivatives market that has already expanded rapidly, with CME XRP futures and options generating approximately $13 billion in notional volume during the first quarter of 2026.
The growth of regulated XRP products coincides with a resurgence of discussion over XRP's potential to overtake Bitcoin by market capitalization. David Schwartz, Ripple CTO emeritus, recently stated that he believes XRP could eventually surpass Bitcoin due to its functionality and speed, potentially leading to a larger overall digital asset market.
