YAM Finance Governance Takeover Attempt Puts $337K at Risk

A takeover attempt on YAM Finance's governance has put approximately $337,000 in assets at risk. The attacker self-delegated around 504,000 YAM tokens, representing about 3.3% of the supply and enough voting power to meet the governance quorum. This allowed them to submit a proposal (YamGovernorAlpha #45) that would give them pending administrator status over the Timelock contract.

The proposed takeover could grant the attacker control over administrative functions governing YAM protocol contracts and its DAO treasury, putting roughly $337,000 at risk. Defimon estimated this amount and urged remaining YAM holders to vote against the proposal before block 25,897,343.

This is not an isolated incident as several governance attacks have targeted decentralized organizations in recent months. Earlier in August, an attacker took control of StrongBlock's abandoned governance system through a malicious proposal, draining approximately $72,000 worth of STRONG and STRNGR tokens.
