ZachXBT Blocks Countries Over Ineffective Authorities
Crypto investigator ZachXBT has announced plans to launch a new website for handling crypto fraud cases. However, he will block access from several countries due to difficulties in getting support from local authorities.
ZachXBT cited his own experiences with authorities in various jurisdictions while trying to help victims recover stolen funds. He mentioned that Canada and the UK have been among the worst countries to deal with, where providing detailed information about threat actors did not lead to any assistance for the victims.
He specifically criticized the Canadian government, calling it a 'first-world country' that failed to act even when evidence was provided. Similarly, he expressed frustration with India's authorities, who allegedly contacted him for help with frozen funds in some cases but also seemed to struggle with distinguishing between legitimate and phishing websites.
ZachXBT plans to prioritize cases from jurisdictions where local authorities are more likely to respond and act on blockchain evidence. This move has received mixed reactions, with some supporting his decision to focus on countries with more cooperative law enforcement, while others argue that victims should not lose access to help due to their nationality or location.
