Zcash Activates Ironwood Upgrade on July 28 with Enhanced Security Features
The Zcash network is set to undergo an upgrade called Ironwood on July 28. This update will introduce a new shielded pool and provide users with independently verifiable soundness, allowing them to verify that Zcash's circulating supply is being enforced.
The Ironwood upgrade was designed in response to a critical counterfeiting vulnerability discovered by Shielded Labs security researcher Taylor Hornby in Zcash's Orchard shielded pool. The vulnerability was fixed through an emergency network upgrade led by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL).
Funds will only be able to leave the original Orchard pool through Zcash's existing turnstile, which prevents more ZEC from exiting the pool than legitimately entered it.
