Zcash Activates Ironwood Upgrade to Safeguard Circulating Supply
Zcash is set to activate its Ironwood network upgrade on July 28 at block height 3,428,143. The upgrade aims to ensure that every user can independently verify the soundness of Zcash's circulating supply.
The Ironwood upgrade was designed in response to a critical counterfeiting vulnerability discovered by Shielded Labs security researcher Taylor Hornby in Zcash's Orchard shielded pool.
The vulnerability, which has since been fixed through an emergency network upgrade led by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), made it impossible for users to independently verify that no counterfeit ZEC was created before the fix.
