Zcash Blasts Past 2,200% Gains as Crypto Market Diverges in Privacy Sector
The crypto market is experiencing a significant divergence in performance across various sectors, with privacy coins emerging as the biggest outlier. According to Glassnode data, the median asset among the top 200 cryptocurrencies has lost 58% since its October peak, while Bitcoin itself is down 36%. In contrast, the privacy sector has gained 213%, with only one other sector above its level at that time.
Zcash (ZEC) has led the charge, increasing in value by over 2,200% and jumping to a ranking of 10th from 82nd. Its market capitalization now accounts for 62% of the total privacy sector capitalization. Other privacy coins like Monero have also seen significant gains, with its price doubling since last year.
The growth in the privacy sector is notable, especially when considering that nearly half of the sector's increase occurred within the past 30 days. This divergence has persisted even as a broad market rebound took place over the same period, during which all ten sectors posted gains. The privacy sector led these advances with a rise of 90%.
