Zcash Cuts Transaction Time with Zakura Common Upgrade
Zcash has made significant strides in improving its transaction time thanks to the launch of Zakura Common, a cryptographic software developed by Zcash's Zakura team. With Zakura Common, private transaction creation times have been reduced from over three seconds to under 200 milliseconds.
This upgrade brings substantial benefits to mobile and desktop wallet processing, with mobile wallets experiencing a 14-fold increase in speed and desktop wallets seeing a 5-fold improvement.
Hashing speeds have also increased by 21 times, while node verification is now up to 8 times quicker. Private transactions on Zcash conceal sender, receiver, and amount information, requiring complex cryptographic computations that were previously a major source of transaction lag.
Zcash cofounder Sean Bowe noted the benefits of Zakura Common for shielded wallets and full nodes. No network upgrade is required, allowing wallet developers to immediately adopt the open-source libraries with the 1.3.0 release of Vizor Wallet already integrated.
