Zcash Holders Weigh in on NU7 Upgrade Through Privacy-Preserving Vote
Zcash (ZEC) holders will have a direct say in the network's upcoming NU7 upgrade through the Coinholder Vote. This process grants eligible ZEC holders voting power linked to their shielded holdings, allowing them to impact key decisions on the network's future.
The vote takes place in three stages: eligibility is determined at block 3,459,350, projected for August; voting begins on August 25 and ends on September 14. Eligible voters can transfer their ZEC once the snapshot determines their eligibility.
Key decisions up for vote include when previously removed ZEC should return through future block rewards, how to handle legacy Sprout transactions, and whether to shorten the network's block interval. The voting system employs homomorphic encryption to maintain voter privacy.
