Zcash Holds Ground Above Key Moving Averages Amid Cooling Momentum
Zcash (ZEC) has continued to hold its ground after a sharp six-day rally propelled the token from $814 to a multi-year high of $1,249. As of September 8, ZEC was trading at around $1,150, still up over 53% since September 3.
The price action on the 4-hour chart shows consolidation between approximately $1,110 and $1,170 after the initial correction from the high. However, buyers have repeatedly entered near the lower end of that range, while attempts to move beyond $1,170 have faced selling pressure.
A derivatives-driven short squeeze earlier in September liquidated more than $46 million in bearish positions within 24 hours, adding buying pressure as ZEC crossed $1,000 and accelerated toward $1,250. Daily trading volume also rose above $1.2 billion during the advance, reflecting stronger market participation.
On the technical side, ZEC's daily chart shows the token trading well above all four major moving averages, with momentum remaining positive on the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator. However, the declining histogram bars following the price peak suggest that bullish momentum is beginning to cool.
