Zcash Interest Fades After Reaching New High Ahead of ETF Launch
Grayscale Investments' Zcash exchange-traded fund (ETF) launched on August 25, but interest in the privacy-focused token peaked a day before its price reached a recent high. According to data from Bitget and Santiment, social mentions of Zcash rose sharply in the days leading up to August 23, when it hit $878, a gain of roughly 72% from $509 on August 18.
However, this surge in attention was short-lived, with social mentions returning to baseline levels by launch day. Since reaching its peak price, Zcash has declined by around 10%, dropping to about $789.
Grayscale Research sees Zcash as a potential challenger to Bitcoin's network effects due to growing demand for financial privacy and its combination of Bitcoin-like characteristics with enhanced security features.
