Zcash Ironwood Upgrade Seals Off Flawed Orchard Pool

The Zcash Ironwood upgrade was activated on July 28, sealing off the Orchard shielded pool to new deposits and opening a fresh privacy pool that starts from zero.

Roughly 3.6 million ZEC remained locked inside Orchard once the switch took effect at block height 3,428,143.

The move closes out a four-year-old counterfeiting flaw in Orchard's underlying math, a bug discovered by Shielded Labs researcher Taylor Hornby in May.
