Zcash Mining Activity Surges 2.5 Times in 2026, Outpacing Bitcoin
Zcash mining activity has surged significantly in 2026, with a 2.5 times increase compared to previous years. This growth is largely attributed to the asset's recent price pump, making ZEC more profitable for miners than Bitcoin.
According to Grayscale Research, Zcash mining rigs currently produce four times more revenue per megawatt-hour than Bitcoin miners under current conditions. The sharp price surges of ZEC have boosted mining profitability and pushed network hashrate to peak levels.
The data shows that Zcash's hashrate hit 27.9 GSol/s on September 10, with its network computational power climbing to 91% of its all-time high (ATH). This significant increase in the network's hashrate is a direct result of higher prices increasing mining profits and attracting more computational power to the protocol.
