Zcash Mining Becomes More Lucrative Than Bitcoin Amid Strong Price Performance
Grayscale Research Head Zach Pandl found that mining Zcash (ZEC) has become more profitable than Bitcoin under current market conditions.
Zcash uses a Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism similar to Bitcoin, but also offers additional privacy features. This combination has made the strong performance of the ZEC price significantly improve the mining economy.
While the Bitcoin network is larger in scale, Grayscale data shows that Zcash miners earn approximately twice the daily income per piece of mining equipment used compared to Bitcoin miners.
In terms of energy consumption, Zcash mining generates about four times the revenue per megawatt-hour (MWh) as Bitcoin. The increased profitability has accelerated the influx of new processing power into the Zcash network, with mining activity increasing by more than 2.5 times since the beginning of the year.
Grayscale believes that this development could create a positive cycle for Zcash, where the rise in ZEC price increases mining activity, which strengthens the network's security and boosts investor confidence.
