Zcash Mining Outshines Bitcoin with Twice the Daily Rewards
Grayscale's analysis shows that Zcash mining is highly profitable, beating Bitcoin by nearly two times in daily rewards per machine. According to Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl, stronger token prices lead to higher mining rewards. In fact, Zcash miners can earn roughly twice the daily rewards compared with Bitcoin miners under Grayscale's estimates.
The analysis uses data from September 9 and assumes electricity at $0.05 per kilowatt-hour. The comparison is based on machines such as the Bitmain S23 Hydro for Bitcoin and the Bitmain Z15 Pro for Zcash. Grayscale suggests that higher Zcash prices encourage more computing power to join the network, strengthening its security.
The firm estimates that Zcash's advantage reaches roughly four times Bitcoin's rewards per megawatt-hour of electricity. This improvement in mining economics was already evident as Zcash approached $1,000 earlier this month, with equipment profitability estimates showing a strong return on investment.
