Zcash Price Surge Triggers 562% Liquidation Imbalance
Zcash's price surge has led to a significant imbalance in its liquidation ratio, reaching as high as 562% over the past 24 hours. The cryptocurrency traded as high as $1,051 on September 4, 2026, after a sharp rally from a low of $805 on September 3, 2026.
The sudden price increase caught traders betting against Zcash off guard, resulting in the liquidation of over $13.24 million worth of leveraged positions. CoinGlass data shows that $11.26 million of this came from shorts and $1.98 million from longs.
Zcash's rally dates back to October 2025, when it began recovering from a low of $7.7 in April of that year. The cryptocurrency has since gained 105% in the last 30 days and 2,395% over the past year, according to CoinGecko data.
The recent price growth is attributed to both technical and institutional developments, including Grayscale's spot Zcash ETF, which began trading on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH in late August. Additionally, Digital Currency Group was in non-binding talks with a subsidiary to purchase 200,000 ZEC.
