Zcash Price Surges Past $1,200 as Analysts Predict Further Gains
The Zcash (ZEC) price has surged to over $1,200, marking a meteoric rise of 370% in just three months. This turnaround comes after a vulnerability in its Orchard privacy pool was patched, and the protocol's focus on privacy helped it outperform other large-cap altcoins.
Initially, the issue raised concerns about the token's security, with some prominent names disposing of their holdings due to potential issues. However, the situation stabilized at around $500 for a couple of months before breaking out in mid-August and driving ZEC to $900.
The rest of the market stalled, but ZEC continued climbing and briefly exceeded $1,200 earlier today. The surge has resulted in significant short liquidations, with over $46 million in losses among all cryptocurrencies.
Analysts attribute this sudden increase to the launch of Grayscale's Zcash ETF on August 25, which has attracted $34.4 million in net inflows. Some experts also point to a major whale who DCA-ed into ZEC between 2022 and 2024, accumulating 22,840 ZEC for about $1.1 million.
Crypto Patel's prediction of a 'Beautiful Cup & Handle Pattern' on the weekly scale has been met with interest, as he suggests that ZEC may reach $2,200 if the pattern follows its target.
